On Thursday, September 26, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will celebrate Batman by awarding him the 2,790th star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame. Batman’s tale of perseverance and resilience has inspired countless generations globally. He embodies vengeance, he is the night, he is Batman.
Renowned not for superpowers but for his intellect, skills, and technical prowess, Batman stands as one of the world’s most iconic characters. Loved universally through his appearances in comics, TV shows, animations, films, and more since his debut in 1939’s Detective Comics #27, Batman will be the first superhero to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His star will be placed next to those of TV’s Batman, Adam West, and Batman’s co-creator, Bob Kane.
DC’s president, publisher, and chief creative officer, Jim Lee, along with senior vice president and general manager, Anne DePies, will be present at the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Thursday, September 26, at 11:00 a.m. PT. The event will take place at 6764 Hollywood Boulevard, in front of the Hollywood Guinness World Records Museum, where Batman, in full costume, will receive his star in the motion pictures category.
In addition to the Walk of Fame ceremony, Batman will be honoured with a Guinness World Records title for being the first superhero to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This special presentation will be conducted by official GWR adjudicator Michael Empric. Other notable Guinness World Records titles awarded to Batman include Detective Comics as the longest-running comic book (continuously published since 1938), and in 2012, Batman was recognized as the most adapted comic book character (live-action movies), from his 1966 full-length movie to The Dark Knight Rises. Guinness World Records also acknowledges Batman for having the most Oscar-winning actors portray him (George Clooney, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck), the most video game adaptations of a superhero movie, and more.
In partnership with Funko, an all-day fan event will be held on September 26 at Funko Hollywood (6201 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028), coinciding with the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. Jim Lee will host an exclusive one-hour meet and greet and signing session for Batman fans at Funko Hollywood from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. This special signing is limited to fans who have received a wristband.
Wristbands will be given to the first 100 fans who purchase a Batman product at Funko Hollywood on Tuesday, September 24, two days before the event. No outside products are allowed. Each person is limited to one wristband, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. On the day of the signing, fans can start lining up at 9:00 a.m.
Additionally, the Warner Bros. Archives will present a curated pop-up museum at Funko Hollywood, featuring costumes and props from Batman’s film and TV history. This exhibit will offer fans a unique opportunity to see authentic props, iconic costumes, and some surprises up close. More details will be announced soon.
Created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger for DC Comics, Batman’s story has evolved into one of America’s great myths. Known as the Dark Knight, the Caped Crusader, and the World’s Greatest Detective, Batman has symbolized justice, strength, and fearlessness for generations of fans over the past 85 years. His legendary star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame marks another historic milestone for both the character and DC.
