Is Helldivers 2 Super like Super Earth?
6 min readFor Those still might not know Helldivers 2 is a cooperative third-person shooter game developed by Arrowhead Game Studios it was released quite recent this year (2024) so while the game is going viral on many social media platforms I have still come across a few people that have not heard of the game yet.
With that been said we will now get to our review!
GAME INTRO
The game starts with a compulsory tutorial mission where you must do various things to prove that you are in fact a true helldiver, I did have some issues at first such as not being able to find the right keys that could of been made more clearer in my opinion but besides this I did manage to figure it out and the rest of it was done with ease.
Once you complete the tutorial mission the game will then redirect you to your space ship where you can choose to play at any place on the map either solo or with other players, Its designed with simplicity and ease, You all may be thinking isn’t this similar to halo or destiny then what’s the point?
Well there’s still a huge point just because a game takes inspiration from other games does not automatically render it useless, Since there are things such as Genres where you must follow a certain style to match that genre or “game type” everything has genres from music to movies.
As long as you are putting your own unique spin on things all is good and its not that deep what makes Helldivers different from Halo or Destiny is the fact that It’s a top-down twin-stick shooter with a strong emphasis on cooperative multiplayer gameplay.
Players take on the role of elite soldiers called “Helldivers” who are tasked with defending humanity against various alien threats in procedurally generated missions, While Destiny focuses more on being the role of “Guardians” who visited different universes where Helldivers is focused staying on the same globe or universe.
As for Halo Unlike Helldivers’ top-down perspective, Halo is a first-person shooter series known for its immersive combat mechanics and rich sci-fi universe so its impossible to compare either despite Helldivers take some mild influence.
ALL MISSIONS ARE DIFFERENT
What’s amazing is the way the game is set out and the diversity of each mission, even when faced with familiar objectives as all games need to keep familiarity One map may be characterized by vast bodies of water and rolling hills, while another might be densely forested or blanketed in snow.
Adding to the dynamic nature of missions are sudden ambushes by subterranean bugs and timely reinforcements dispatched by robotic dropships, ensuring that no two missions unfold in quite the same manner, So while the missions may be structured similar it also depends on the map location and what the game gives you at random.
From Unique Terrain, Different Objectives, Dynamic Challenges and totally open to the induvial players choices the game gives a unique experience each time keeping it fresh.
In essence, Helldivers offers an ever-evolving adventure that remains perpetually fresh and exciting to us. With its blend of dynamic gameplay elements and player-driven choices, each journey into the Helldivers universe promises a unique and unforgettable experience you won’t regret getting this title.
Rewards System
What’s going to keep us gamers from coming back to this one is the amazing rewards system that the devs were smart enough to implement, you can also buy on your Super Destroyer between missions,
Lacking a standout weapon in your inventory? don’t stress as you’re likely to stumble upon some exciting temporary alternatives during missions.
With a bit of perseverance, you’ll soon accumulate enough resources to acquire a superior firearm of your own after a few engagements.
You will also earn medals and these medals serve as in-game currency essential for unlocking upgrades and better gear such as weapons, You are able to unlock new weapons by spending Medals on reward passes called Warbonds.
So, embrace the challenge, hone your skills, and start amassing those medals to delve deeper into the exhilarating experience of Helldivers. Join the fray, arm yourself to the teeth, and immerse yourself in the thrilling action that awaits!
The Challenge
In Helldivers 2, expect to meet your demise frequently—a central aspect of the game’s allure. The challenge can become particularly intense, especially when braving it solo, online or opting for higher difficulty settings.
A single misstep can give doom for your entire squad, and a single poor decision can result in significant setbacks, it’s important for everyone to remember that this is a team based game for the most part, You do not need a friend to play with but that game is online based most of the time and its the devs main focus.
That being said you do have unlimited respawns but the catch is the more times the more damage you are doing to your team and slowing them down so try to avoid it as much as you can, This is the difference between Helldivers and other games where you may only get 3 lives in other games Helldivers gives a “slow down your team but unlimited lives” approach which is very unique.
This distinctive mechanic also sets Helldivers apart from other games in this genre, where players typically contend with a finite number of lives. Instead of imposing strict limitations on the number of respawns, Helldivers adopts a approach by prioritizing team cohesion and momentum over individual survival constraints. its a unique approach by them.
WHO THIS GAME FOR?
While you can technically play alone it’s also not designed for solo players at the same time, What i mean is you can play alone and you do not need anyone that you know to join you that is technically solo but you will need to connect online and play with other players across the country and world.
So while Helldivers 2 may not be perfect in everyway such as needing to play with others, What is perfect though? nothing is, This leads me to think its still a perfect game.
Additionally, as of the time of writing, Helldivers 2 is exclusively available for players on PC and the PSN meaning its excluding Xbox users from experiencing the game.
Its debatable among the community whether it should be available on Xbox but we need to remember this isn’t the only game that’s been made exclusive for one console over the other for example Forza is only for Xbox, Halo also Xbox, Gran Turismo PSN Only.
I now go in depth with my next point.
My Personal Opinion Fully?
I love how the game keep a familiarity but still remain different at the same time within missions,
balance is key, the outstanding rewards system, how it gives a challenge but still gives difficulty options i however do not like the intro missions that i got confused at first or how its not good for solo players, All though it is a team based game so i do understand why.
I am not complaining i am being honest but i give Helldivers a 9.5/10 it truly is an amazing game and with the enemies and how they have created that too, My dislikes are nothing that’s going to keep me away from the game, That being all said i love to hear what everyone thinks so please be sure to leave your thoughts on our forums!! But once again the game is good with only mild complains that don’t matter at the end of the day.
