DETAILED INFORMATION
Six individuals were tragically killed in a knife attack at Westfield Bondi Junction shopping center in Sydney’s east at around 3.20pm on Saturday.
The perpetrator, Police say to be a 40-year-old man according to NSW Police, was fatally shot by a senior officer at the scene which is now being identified as Inspector Amy Scott.
Five victims, comprising four women and one man, succumbed to their injuries at the busy center on Saturday afternoon. Another woman later passed away in hospital.
Eight others, including a nine-month-old child, sustained injuries and are currently hospitalized, with some in critical condition.
Amid the unfolding attack, some shoppers sought refuge in nearby stores, while others fled the premises. Additionally, some confronted the armed assailant.
it is believed he was known to Queensland Police but not NSW Police and he name is in fact Joel Cauchi,
Many people have assumed he name is Ben Cohen but this has now been debunked and is completely not true, This is exactly why we should get our sources right before assuming.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE FUTURE?
Police strongly believe he was acting alone and this was not a terrorist attack or had any terrorist motives, They also believe he suffered from a few mental illnesses such as schizophrenia.
That being said nothing will change regarding Australian Shops in the future but this does prove that we need to be careful and always look at our surrounding when we are out and about as not everyone is what they claim to be and not everyone is a good person.
