My (Fait) Top 5 Hard Rock / Metalcore Albums Of 2023
3 min read5: The Amity Affliction – Not Without My Ghosts
Numerous narratives to this album wth moments of happiness and the bleakest moments. From tales of resilience in the face of adversity to the clichéd motivational phrases adorning uninspiring wall decorations, such messages are seemingly ubiquitous.
while dealing with the huge isolation and enduring psychological toll of a global pandemic, The Amity Affliction’s eighth album, “Not Without My Ghosts,” ventures deep into the most obscure recesses of human experience.
exploring the creative journey and giving their inspiration, “Not Without My Ghosts” showcases The Amity Affliction at the peak of their raw intensity. Revealing their adaptability through unapologetic aggression, intricate guitar craftsmanship, and resonant melodies.
4: Bury Tomorrow – The Seventh Sun
This expression highlights the world’s inherent cruelty, particularly towards individuals who are struggling. It underscores our tendency to prioritize the appearance of our own boat’s shine over extending help to those who are drowning.
What makes this album amazing in my personal opinion is that the album changes and transforms different times to different feelings. The audio is full and whole throughout all the changes, We absolutely love the bone-crushing guitars too.
3: The Word Alive – Hard Reset
We personally believe this is the best album they’ve released so far and it’s called ‘Hard Reset’
it is characterized by its dynamism, comprising lively and memorable tracks along with amazing melodies. These compositions delve into the depths of inner struggles and reflect the challenges posed by the pandemic-infused world, yes we are talking about COVID-19 at the time.
The fusion of melody and metal seamlessly occurs, exuding a sense of spontaneity and a touch of unpredictability. Elements such as autotune and ambiance make this in comparisons to space rock bands such as STARSET, while the incorporation of more traditional textures reaffirms this group’s mastery within the realm of metalcore, as a result, this gives them a very similar but at the same time unique sound combing space rock and metalcore.
2: Polaris – Fatalism
“In our view, fatalism is accepting the notion that there are aspects beyond our control and that some events are almost predestined and unavoidable,” remarked Daniel Furnari, the drummer of Polaris, when announcing the band’s upcoming album, “Fatalism,” on August 31, 2023, in a press release.
As for the sound of this album well it’s as dope and as heavy as it sounds!
After the heaviness of “Parasites,” Polaris changes tunes with “Overflow,” reminiscent of the melodic style of US emo/alternative bands but heavy moments will still surprise you within this song.
On “The Crossfire,” Schneider and Siew share melodic, possibly finger-tapped duties we are guessing,
this in return creates a backdrop.
The longest track on the album, “Fault Line,” maximizes its five-minute and five-second duration. It begins with a synth-like, showcasing the exceptional chemistry between the band’s guitarists.
So it’s a mix of melodies but heaviness throughout the album.
1: Dayshell – Pegasus
ALBUM OF THE YEAR WOO HOO!!!
Back in 2019, Bourget set his mind on a journey, relying on his own efforts and the support of his fans to fund his debut full-length album, “Mr. Pain.” This gamble turned out to be a success, creating a unique bond between Bourget and his fans who believed in his talent.
I will agree he is a very talented individual.
It only felt natural to him to return to the same model that had garnered such great support.
Throughout 2022, Bourget dedicated his time to refining a collection of work that drew inspiration from the isolation and uncertainty of the past couple of years, along with the personal growth that comes with facing challenges alone. Once again, Bourget turned to his fans to gauge their interest and discovered that the appetite for new Dayshell music had not only endured but had also grown significantly.
To describe his sound he is a cross between Deftones in the heavy guitar work and Incubus , Saosin & Of Mice N Men put together in 1 band for the singing and lyrical sound,
He is an ex-member of Of Mice N Men though,
You wouldn’t think the 4 would blend in so well but it does somehow and it’s great!
